How to get your child to eat more fruit and vegetables
Finding it hard to get your child to eat enough fruit and vegetables to get their essential vitamins and minerals? Don't worry, you're not alone! Ensuring your child gets what they need to grow and thrive isn't always easy. Sometimes it's a struggle just to get them to eat at all, and other times, only pasta will do. We've all been there.
To make things a little easier, we've gathered our best tips for getting your child to eat more fruit and veg without all the fuss. Healthy eating should be fun!
It starts with you
Your child does as you do, not as you say. If you turn your nose up at fruit and vegetables, your child will too. By setting an example, eating plenty of fruit and veg yourself, and talking about what you enjoy about them and why they're important, your child is more likely to get on board.
Make vegetables fun!
Vegetables often become a negative thing when they're seen as something you *have* to eat. And things you have to do are rarely fun. So, try making it enjoyable instead. Create a buffet with lots of different fruits and vegetables and let your child help prepare it. Serve fruit and veg in the same way you'd serve dessert – as something to look forward to.

Hide vegetables in their food
Let's be honest, sometimes you have to resort to a few sneaky tricks. No matter how much you talk, explain, and try to make it fun, children have a will of their own. For those times when they absolutely refuse to eat fruit and vegetables, try hiding them in their food! Grate carrots into mince, mix cauliflower rice with regular rice, or roast vegetables and blend them into a delicious pasta sauce.

Get the children involved
If children get to help prepare the vegetables for dinner or the fruit for a snack, it instantly becomes more fun and exciting to eat later! Use cookie cutters to make fun shapes out of fruit, or have a competition to see who can eat the most carrot sticks. Let your child's imagination be part of the vegetable-eating experience and focus on the fun rather than the 'must-eat' aspect.
