Sun, Sun, and More Sun!

The sun gives us energy, joy, and life. It never goes unnoticed. We all have our own relationship with its warm rays. Can you feel it? Just the thought of the sun warms your entire body. It creates a reaction within us – a positive one for most people. Our shoulders relax, and we feel happy. Perhaps we're transported back to a wonderful memory.

We have been fascinated by the sun since the dawn of time. And without the sun, there is no life. It's like a grand, unattainable jewel that means so much to so many, and to all life. In different cultures, the sun is worshipped through rituals and rites. It has been given various names, each with a different meaning. The sun is the opposite of the moon. Like yin and yang. Or light and dark. It helps create balance for us in so many ways.

Here in the northern part of the globe, we have a very special relationship with this jewel. Although the sun is always wonderful, the feeling it evokes changes with the seasons. Imagine a walk as the autumn leaves begin to fall; the air feels crisp, the scents have changed, and the colours shift from green to yellow, red, and orange. The sun's rays embrace nature, preparing it to rest and hibernate. The energy-rich leaves fall to the ground to enrich the soil for insects and to recharge for spring, when it's time, with the sun's help, to create life and greenery once more.

You know the feeling when we northerners travel south, or take a holiday elsewhere, and we finally get to turn our faces to the sun and feel the warmth of its rays. They warm not just our bodies, but our entire souls. We feel good. We become happy. We get a boost of energy. We also know that the sun, which helps create Vitamin D in the body, is absolutely essential for our health. Among other things, it contributes to the normal function of our immune system.

The sun also provides energy for the food we eat. It might seem obvious to go to the shop and buy fruit and vegetables. But in the creation of these delicious fruits and vegetables, the sun plays a key role. These are things we might sometimes take for granted. Embrace the day. Smile at the sun and show gratitude for the little things.
